Flying
The main
airport used is Geneva however Chambery, Lyon and Grenoble are also used. As a rough guide: Lots of
carriers fly to Geneva and hence you can often get the best prices by flying to Geneva
if you hunt around. Geneva also has the most frequent bus service to and from
Val d'Isere. Lyon has a number of carriers and a reasonably frequent bus
service and can be a good option. Ryanair and Easyjet fly to Grenoble and you can get some good prices however you will need to get a hire
car or a private transfer to get you to Tignes. Chambery is the closest airport however you may find it difficult
to get a good price. |

Car
Hire: You can find links for car hire companies on the Airline Web sites or try Rhino Car Hire – We have negotiated discounted rates, please contact us for further details.
Bear
in Mind: If you hire a car you will also have to hire snow chains
(£25ish) and to park the car in Tignes will cost £60+ (there are some free
car parks - a bus ride away), plus you will have petrol costs (£60+). |
|
Buses: Book the bus in advance and also
checking time tables carefully as the last bus may leave after your plane
arrives. You may find it easier to call them as their web sites are

Driving: This normally works out to be the cheapest option. Some people drive all the
way in one day, however a stop over in somewhere like Dijon, Lyon or Chambery
breaks up the journey nicely. We have put together an access
map of the basic route that most people use to drive down to Val d'Isere
from Calais.

Val.co.uk recommend Norfolk Line: As they
normally have the best fares and a great fleet of ships.
